As you know the Wednesday night session worked with Jamie on this fund-raising initiative and did a great job – all the blood, sweat & tears were shed by the participants!!!

After a lot of worrying the sun shone on this event on Sunday! The Friday afternoon Session & Friends raised around £700 (final figure to come)

On Wednesday 16 very lively cute children shattered the peace of a quiet afternoon at West Fenton!

The children, Nursery, P1 & P2, brought along a cheque for £250 – the proceeds from a PTA Burns Supper.

We were happy to give them all a little ride. Using 4 ponies we had a very quick turnaround.

On Tuesday Benji was released from 3 months box rest.

Lovely to see him prance out of his box and put his head straight down to the grass. He now has several more weeks on a patch of grass before he can be gently brought back into work.

On Tuesday the Thursday Sessions Colander Girls came to take some cameo shots for their production.

It was very hot in the arena but Helpers were forced to wear their uniform fleeces and Witches Hats! Phew it was boiling!

Getting to grips with working in the new facilities has not been without its hiccups but the year has been marked by two regal visits when the group; its Riders, Helpers and Ponies have been in the limelight.

On 8th June, a group of 16 intrepid volunteers took Otis, Kish, Bryony and Solomon to the Jack Kane Centre at Craigmillar for a Rotary Fun Day for children all over Edinburgh and around.

The ponies behaved really well especially Solomon who was a bit of an unknown quantity!

This was held on 2nd June and those attending included Margaret Morgan our Regional Chairman. Rider David Arthur’s mum, Audrey agreed to replace Sheena, Fiona McDougall’s mum as Parent Representative on the Committee.

After the meeting there was a convivial 30 minutes of wine nibbles and chat!

Fire Safety Training Sessions were held on 26th May and 6th June.

Both courses were well attended and lots of people volunteered to be Fire Marshalls. It is planned to run a short training session for all Fire Marshalls soon.

Two of our riders, and their ponies, took part in the RDA Regional Dressage competition held at the Drum on Monday 30 May.

Lydia, riding our wonderful Molly, came in 4th out of 17 riders in her class, and this was despite the class being held outside and in a strong wind!
